July Update: New Video & Page Experience Compliance Signals

We’re back with our July Update at DeepSee.io, this time with new compliance tests for video, more data to fuel reporting, and a brand new way to view industry trends right inside the platform.

Let’s dive into what’s new this month.

New Compliance Tests for Video Elements

Video remains one of the most misrepresented ad formats on the open web, and this month, we’re taking a major step forward in closing those gaps. Our updated compliance framework now includes new tests specifically designed to detect signals unique to video placements.

We’re now flagging:

  • Presence of floating players that indicate outstream video placements
  • Declared instream video inventory

We’ll be bringing a future update that adds signals to bridge the gap between what’s reported in code and what’s actually seen by users.

Page Experience Signals Powered by New Data

Our reporting engine got a big upgrade. Over the last several weeks, we’ve expanded our dataset with more page-experience related signals. You’ll now see new fields in your compliance reports that give better context around how pages behave during ad serving. These include:

  • Dynamic Page Size: Identifies when the page resizes dynamically as the user scrolls, typically to expose comment sections, native ads, or internal links.
  • Infinite Scroll: Flags when both page length and URL change continuously as content loads, allowing more ad exposure within a single session.
  • URL Swap: Detects when the URL updates mid-scroll, often indicating anchor text is being appended based on reading behavior, which can create issues for session-level tracking.

These new additions are marked as ‘Neutral’- they won’t penalize a domain’s overall rating, but they offer important visibility into how pages behave during ad rendering. Surfacing these behaviors allows for a better understanding of user experience, and refines criteria for inclusion or removal.

Introducing Industry Trends & Features

We know that understanding the broader context of what’s happening across the digital advertising ecosystem is just as important as what’s happening in your own lists. That’s why we’ve launched our new ‘Trends & Features’ section in the DeepSee.io portal.

You’ll find it under the Websites tab in the main left bar navigation. Inside, you’ll get a up to date insights on signals like ad density, top compliance flags across the platform, and original insights from the DeepSee team on what’s going on in the industry.

The Rise of AI Slop Sites, and Why It Matters

We’ve also published a new deep dive on one of the fastest-growing problems in the programmatic space: AI-generated “slop” sites. These are low-effort, high-monetization websites filled with generic, machine-generated content. They often meet basic ad delivery requirements but lack substance, and they’re proliferating rapidly.

In our latest blog post, we break down how these sites operate, what makes them hard to detect, and how they’re quietly draining ad spend away from real publishers. If you’re working to improve inventory quality or reduce waste, this is a must-read.

We’ll be back next month with more, but in the meantime, we’d love to hear what you think. If you’re curious about anything we’ve covered, or want a closer walkthrough of what’s new, reach out to our team anytime.
